Towards Mount Pleasant Road - framed print - by Gary Crowder

Gary Crowder is an artist living in and working from his studio in Gledhow, Leeds. He studied art at Leeds College of Art and Design and Bretton Hall where he gained a BA (Hons) in Fine Art majoring in sculpture.

Prior to this development in his life, he served as a Military Policeman during the Cold War period.

Since graduating in 2000 he has been on a journey of discovery both personally and artistically and is learning to embrace the ways in which being open to trying new avenues of artistic investigation can lead to discovering new ways of seeing the world.

Through the disciplines of drawing, photography and using written accounts, he builds up a body of research on site which he uses to inform his work back in the studio.

Gary’s work draws heavily on his connection with lonely out of the way places such as the Falkland Islands, and his life experiences an only child growing up in a northern mill town on the edge of the moors.

Gary has exhibited throughout the north of England.
